A Wonder Seeker

“Look to the Lord and his strength; seek his face always. Remember the wonders he has done, his miracles, and the judgments he pronounced.” Psalm 105:4-5

When I think of the phrase ‘wonder seeker’, I think of a little kid wearing an astronaut’s helmet, running around a dimly lit room covered in stars and planets. A space of pure wonder, beauty, creation, and uniqueness. And, when I think of kids, I think of openness, curiosity, and a side of them to explore and seek adventure.

I think, in this Psalm above, we are being welcomed to not just look back on what God has done but to also run around in our astronaut’s helmet, exploring every single nook and cranny, and letting God take us on His amazing adventure.

As adults, we often get sucked into this thing called life. We get carried away with work, our social life, getting the paycheck to pay the bills, and staying up to date with the news and latest trend. And, as a result, we forget that it’s okay to be that little kid again, digging into that thing we’re most excited about. 

Here’s a silly revelation: we are called children of God, not adults of God.

Sure, the world expects us to act our age, do what’s expected of us, and have all our ducks in a row. But God expects us to be like little children with our faith as we seek Him. He welcomes the fingerpainting, the forts being built, the exploration of His Word, and the adventure He want’s to take us on in His ark. We are to be wonder seekers, not afraid of seeming childish or silly. Because, to God, that is beautiful.

So, today, be a wonder seeker. Seek God on a whole new level, the same way a child would. And maybe, just maybe, your little adventure will become a story others will share and be inspired by.
